Centennial's Technology Education department is extremely appreciative of $600 grant from Lockheed Martin Space Systems Company to support our STEM programs.  The funding will be used in some of our Technology courses to design, construct, test and analyze aerodynamic vehicles using 3D modeling, 3D printing, live testing and post-flight data analysis.

Centennial's Red Cross Club in response to Hurricane Harvey, will be holding a supply drive outside of the school cafeteria. The club is currently collecting

Food (Unexpired, non-perishable and easy-to-make),
Clothing (New or gently used, and seasonally-appropriate. (e.g. shirts, pants, socks, shoes.)
Toys: (e.g. books, board games, battery-operated games),
Baby diapers, formula wipes, gently used baby items (clothes, blankets, bottles, small toys

Our donations are going to the Texas Diaper Bank and Houston Donation Distribution Centers.

PSAT

The PSAT will be administered to students in grades 9-11 on Wednesday October 11th during periods 1-3. Freshman will be administered the 8/9 version of the PSAT and Sophomores and Juniors will take the NMSQT version of the PSAT. Students in 10th and 11th grades have received the PSAT-NMSQT Student Guide through their English classes that can be used to find general information about the PSAT including what to bring on test day, get test-taking tips and advice, and try sample questions to familiarize them with the test. The PSAT- 8/9 Student Guide is available in pdf format for 9th grade students and can be found on our CHS webpage as well as 9th grade English teachers have posted this resource to their Canvas page. Parents, please ensure that your child get plenty of rest the night prior, eat a healthy breakfast and be to school on time. We have over 1225 students taking the PSAT and we need to start immediately at 7:25am. Thank you in advance for your assistance.

CHS After School Activity Bus

The bus will run every Tuesday and Thursday through December starting September 26th and departing from Centennial at 3:45 PM. Select the bus stop closest to your home. There are a limited number of slots available on a first-come, first-served basis for each stop, so sign up early. If your first choice stop is not available, you may sign up for the next closest stop. Remember, you must sign up separately for each day you want to ride the bus.

We still have not received Online Emergency Procedure Card information (Family File) for many of our Centennial students. This is a critical situation. Without this information, the school will have no means of getting in touch with parents and guardians, should an emergency occur. If you haven't done so, please provide your Online Emergency Procedure information as soon as possible.

Please complete the information…

Please take time to view the newsletters, Eagle Eye online, our website (chs.org), and notices to read about the events and honors that are happening at Centennial.

College Essays

On Wednesday, October 11th, while freshmen, sophomores, and juniors are taking the PSAT, seniors are invited to meet with an English teacher who will provide feedback on students' college essays.  Senior English teachers will be available in the Media Center during the morning of October 11th.

What are we doing as a school and as parents to promote student growth? Hopefully, your student has settled into the daily routine, classroom drills, instructional activities and homework. Students should be engaged, be encouraged, and be challenged by their teachers and parents. “There’s no straighter road to success than exceeding expectations one day at a time.” (Robin Crow)

Have a great weekend.
