Our National Math Honor Society helped 37 students last week!

Free math tutoring and homework help is offered every day after school in Mr. Coe's room! All students (especially freshmen and sophomores) are encouraged to come to Mr. Coe's room for math help from our CHS National Math Honor Society!! Students who are studying for a test or quiz or who have any questions about math homework or classwork, are welcome.

The CHS NHS Team Leaders for the OPUS 1 event at Merriweather Post Pavilion were outstanding. From initial communication to event end check-out, these students were professional, courteous and fun! They were fabulous in helping to coordinate CHS NHS volunteers!

Centennial High School will celebrate National Writing Day on Thursday, October 23rd.  Throughout the school, students will engage in writing activities to reinforce “the significance of writing in our national life, to draw attention to the remarkable variety of writing we engage in, and to help writers from all walks of life recognize how important writing is to their lives” (NCTE).   Under the supervision of Mr. O’Brien, the Advanced Composition classes will create beautiful t-shirts for students and staff that answer the question, “Why write?”  Additionally, on October 23rd, Advanced Composition students will lead cross-curricular instruction through creative writing exercises, encourage other students to participate in haiku-writing contests, sign the “Why Write?” banner during their lunch shifts, and create quotes that will adorn the windshields of cars parked in our parking lot.

It’s quite a celebration!

In preparation for our 40th musical revue celebration, alumni sent in a short video about how CHS theatre prepared them for success.

The following alumni are featured in the video: Montria Walker (2015), Stephanie Crispell (2016), Adam Michael Rose (1997), Ali Grusell (2007), Hannah Coakley (2005), Joy Fox (1996), Miguel Fernandez (2017), Steven Foote (2009), Julia Dennis (2005), Lisa Rediker (2009), Tom McQuaid (2009) and Jen Jones (2009). These students were not able to come and perform at our musical revue but wanted to be involved. Check it out…
