Centennial High School ranks as a University of Maryland A. James Clark School of Engineering 2017-2018 Top 25 Source School. This means that Centennial is one of the top sources of talented students that University f Maryland at College Park recruits for their undergraduate engineering program.

 

Stephanie Gerhold recently received her  National Board Certification - this is a tremendous accomplishment and demonstrates her commitment to providing high quality instruction to her students and to her own growth as a reflective practitioner.

 

Congratulations to Mr. Dan Desmond. The University of Minnesota has recognized him for his

strong German program at Centennial High School and the excellent students who continue their study of German at the University of Minnesota.

 

Congratulations to Jason Kraisser …Champion at Mount Mat Madness Tournament. According to the Baltimore Sun, “this is a crowning achievement…”

 

Rasa Welsh has been nominated for Baltimore Sun Girls Basketball Athlete of the Month and was named tournament MVP at the Manchester Valley Holiday Hoops tournament and Jordan Dossett was named to the All-Tournament Team.  The girl’s basketball team won the Manchester Valley tournament by beating Patterson Mill 44-14 and Marriotts Ridge 43-26.

Congratulations to Reem Hashmi and Lien Hoang. They have both been an integral part of the sales team of “Empower” for Junior Achievement Rising Women. This particular company was created by this session's young ladies. Reem and Lien will be honored on January 10th and will chronicle their journey of entrepreneurial exploration.

8th Grade Parent Orientation will be Tuesday, January 9th at 7pm in the Auditorium. Staff will be available to answer questions in the Cafeteria after the presentation.

9th Grade Parents:
Wednesday, January 10th from 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm in the Auditorium we are having our 9th Grade Midterm Mastery Information Review Session & Course Scheduling Information Night for 9th grade students and parents. This is not a time to speak with teachers. They are just presenting information to help support you and your child be successful on mid terms.

We have an activity bus that will pick students up at 3:45 from January 16th through January 18th.

PARCC and HSA Testing Starts January 8, 2018

Starting Monday, January 8th - Wednesday, January 17, there are over 70 students who will be testing PARCC and HSA to meet graduation assessment requirements for the State of Maryland. If your child is testing, please remind him or her to eat a good breakfast, arrive to school on time and to report directly to the testing location prior to 7:25 am. Please remember that students taking the English assessment should bring ear buds; students taking the Algebra I assessment should bring calculators. All students who are testing have been notified. Students may check for testing date, time, and location on the posters outside the Media Center and cafeteria.

Parents and students interested in the gifted and talented research programs for next year should attend the information night on Monday, 1/8 at 7 PM in the Media Center. Come hear about the Independent Research Program and the Intern/Mentor Program. Applications can be completed at https://sites.google.com/site/michellebagleychs/assignments

If you cannot make the meeting the PowerPoint is also on the website. 

Applications are due by 1/29 and interviews will be conducted in February.

 

The Director of the Meditation Museum is willing to partner with “She's the First” Club on Thursday, February 1st for a Pause for Peace event. Pause for Peace is a service of community that the museum offers to schools. We are still in the developing stage for our points of topic. This is an extraordinary opportunity for our CHS community.
