Mid-Year-Reports for Seniors:

Parents of Seniors, please review your student's Quarter 2 report card that was given out Monday Feb. 3rd. This report card will be sent to colleges as the Mid-Year Report. Please notify your student's counselor immediately if there are any corrections that have not been addressed. Reports will be sent to colleges on Tuesday, February 18th through Naviance and will go to all colleges your student has applied to.  There is no need to request that a Mid-Year Report be sent.

 

B-I-N-G-O is coming!!!!!

Join the CHS Friends of Music for our annual B-I-N-G-O Night on Saturday, February 22, 7:00-9:30 p.m. in the CHS cafeteria. AMAZING themed prize baskets, INCREDIBLE raffle prizes, EXCITING silent auction and AWESOME live music! Discounted gift certificates on sale for local restaurants, grocery stores and other businesses. This is our biggest fundraiser of the year with all proceeds supporting our FANTASTIC music programs! Only $10 at the door ($40 for a family of 5), with 12 chances to win one of these amazing gift baskets. Pizza and snacks available for purchase. Student Parking

At this time, we have issued all student parking passes for this school year.  There are no additional spaces for students for the remainder of the year. If you student would like to put their name on a waiting list, they can stop by the front office.

AP Exams - Registration Update

Late registration will begin on 11/16 and end on 3/13 and cost an additional $40 per exam ($134). NO REGISTRATIONS CAN BE ACCEPTED AFTER March 13th. Step-by-step directions and more details are included in the link below or can be found on the CHS website under Academics.  Contact Andrea Covington with questions and concerns acovington@hcpss.org .Students who receive Free and Reduced Meals (FARMs) qualify for AP exam fee reductions.

CELEBRATE CENTENNIAL:

Got great news about our students, staff, or community? Send it our way and we’ll shout it out! 

 

  • Please congratulate your Model UN Team who competed at the Johns Hopkins University Conference over the weekend. Caio Goolsby won Outstanding Delegate and has gaveled (1st) place, 4 years in a row.

 

  • Congratulations to Nadine Meister.  She has been named Regional Finalists in the Coca-Cola Scholars Program.  This is a huge accomplishment – she has progressed to the second stage of selection after the review of 1,928 Semifinalists who were chosen from among more than 93,000 applicants hoping to be named Coca-Cola Scholars this year. She will participate in regional interviews with a committee of Scholar alumni and staff members in the coming weeks.

After these interviews are complete, 150 of the 251 Regional Finalists will become Coca-Cola Scholars and receive a $20,000 scholarship.

 

  • Yash Agarwal, has been selected as the student of the month for the Aerospace Engineering Academy. Our current project has Yash and a team of students preparing for a Panel Discussion on Population Density.  He is not only heading up the project, but ensuring its success by demonstrating leadership abilities that his classmates both admired and respected. 

 

  • Congratulations to the team of CHS students who competed in an academic quiz tournament.  They finished 1st out of 28 teams.

The upcoming Safe Driving class at Reservoir High School for March 5 has been canceled.

 

FREE Dental Exams and Cleanings

February is National Children's Dental Health Month and the Howard Community College Dental Hygiene School will be offering Free Dental Cleanings and Exams on February 17th, 2020.

Atholton High School's Becca's Closet student club is hosting our 4th annual A Pretty and Polished Affair! They want to help our students get a FREE prom dress for this years prom season! The event is 100% free and not only includes a dress, but accessories, alterations, hair and make up, refreshments, and giveaways.  See more

 

Leadership U Class of 2020

Are you thinking of college for your child?  Let Leadership U help your current sophomore build their 21st century skills that will help them succeed!  Leadership U can provide him or her a memorable week-long program of leadership development, networking, and community awareness.  Beginning the end of July and continuing through the fall of their junior year with nine Sunday afternoon group meetings, LU will give your child the opportunity to build their confidence, learn to network, strengthen their leadership skills, meet new students, and work on a community service project of their choice.  Come learn more and speak to some of our grads at one of our final two information sessions: February 13 at HCLS-Central Branch from 7-8pm or March 1 at HCLS-Miller Library from 3-4pm.
