Host Families Needed

Tue, 01/10/2017 - 9:25am

Centennial High School has a sister school relationship with Beijing #2 High School in the Dong Cheng district of Beijing, China.

As part of this MOU, we will be welcoming 16high school students and three teacher chaperones from February 2nd to February 5th 2017. The students will need to stay with host families in Howard County.

The superintendent of schools, Dr. Renee A. Foose, is excited about the opportunities created by this partnership.  It is hoped that students who enroll in Chinese language classes will reciprocate the visit in the future. In fact there is a trip planned for spring break next year.

The host family will be responsible for transportation to and from school for Thursday, February 2nd pickup after school, drop off and pick up at school on Friday, February 3rd and finally drop off Sunday morning, February 5th at school.  The Chinese students will be flying in late on Thursday and will overnight at a hotel near the airport and come directly to school Thursday morning. If your student is a bus rider the visiting students will ride the bus with your student.

At this time, there is a need for 8 host families to host 2 students each. The students will shadow their host student for most of Thursday and will be visiting local colleges on Friday.

Since the students will arrive directly to Centennial on Thursday morning, we ask the host families to come meet the students on Thursday at 7:30am in the media center.

Forms are available in the front office and should be returned by noon on January 19, 2017.

Thank you.
