Once again a Centennial High School student has the honor of reading an original poem at an awards ceremony for Maryland students’ visual artworks hosted by Maryland’s First Lady, Mrs. Hogan. The annual ceremony showcases student artwork from around the state that Mrs. Hogan has selected to be displayed in the House of Delegates gallery walk. This year the First Lady selected Isabelle Levine’s poem “Wind” to be included in the evenings ceremony, inviting Ms. Levine to read the poem she wrote. Ms. Levine’s poem was one of many submitted to the First Lady that were composed while students worked with poet-in-resident Elizabeth Rees. The ceremony is Monday, December 4 from 4-6 at the House Office Building in Annapolis. Congratulations to Ms. Levine.
The Centennial High School Academic Life Skills program is in need of jobs for our students to complete as part of their job skills training. Typical jobs for our students include folding brochures/pamphlets, stuffing envelopes, preparing mailings, cutting and gluing, sorting, etc. If you have a business or personal project that you need help with, please contact Colin Moe (colin_moe@hcpss.org) or Lizz Engle (Elizabeth_engle@hcpss.org) in order to determine if the job is something our students can complete. Thank you for your support!
Student Government Association sponsors an annual Jingle Bell Banquet for senior citizens living in fixed/low-income housing. Seniors are provided with bus transportation and invited to Centennial for a traditional turkey dinner.

HOMEWOOD’S
ANNUAL RECYCLED TREASURE SALE
What is it?
Each year, before winter break, Homewood has a Recycled Treasure Sale. Students “purchase” new or gently used items as presents for their loved ones and have them gift-wrapped. The students’ “currency” is based on their 2nd quarter interim grades. Since all items are donated, we could use your help!
How can you help?
We need gently or used items…no clothing, unless tags are still attached by December 15th.
Popular New or Gently Used Items include:
· Electronics and DVDs
· Sporting goods (Basketballs, Footballs, Team Apparel)
· Jewelry
· Candles
· Scarves and Purses
· Toys for Siblings
· Hats and Gloves
· Jackets
· Bath Oils and Lotions
· Almost anything is great, as long as it is clean!
· Wrapping paper, gift bags, and tissue is also welcome
Donations welcome any day at Homewood or you may drop off in the front office or give to Mrs. Taylor in Room 913.
Have a great a weekend!
