Eagle News:

Congratulations to the Class of 2018… our 41st graduating class. They continue our Commitment to Excellence and they raise the bar even higher! 99% of the Class of 2018 will be attending college – this is an absolutely amazingly high percentage! Thank you everyone for the best graduation. Eagle Pride! Eagle Excellence!

Congratulations! Over the Memorial Day weekend, the Centennial team consisting of freshman Anthony Duan, sophomore Adam Knox, and seniors Emmy Alme and Jakob Boeye (captain) had an extraordinary string of victories in the HSNCT (High School National Championship Tournament) in Atlanta. Our 5th place finish in the nation was higher than expected; we were nationally ranked at #15 and there is usually a large increment of talent in the top 10 in the country. We had the Highest finish for a team from Maryland and we were the NUMBER ONE public high school with less than 2000 students in the country > TWO MAJOR EXTRA Jakob Boeye was named a tournament All-Star winning a trophy, another first for Centennial!

Christopher Shen and Summer Shen competed in the mixed doubles bracket in the state tournament but fell to the team from Kent Island in the first round. Ram Kotnana made it through to the second round before losing to the number one seed and state champion from Wootton in the boys singles bracket. Peter Ho and Olivia Tsai placed 3rd in the state for mixed doubles and was one of only 2 teams to make it to the semi final round in the state tournament from Howard County.

As our school communities look to support those impacted by the flooding in Ellicott City, please encourage folks to collect funds rather than supplies, as the funds can be targeted to the greatest needs at just the right time. The Howard County Government has asked that citizens make financial donations to the Howard County Community Relief Fund https://cfhoco.org/2018/05/howard-county-community-relief-fund/. Finally, citizens are asked not to go to Ellicott City to provide on-the-ground assistance while the first responders continue with their efforts. People can register to volunteer when on-the-ground support is needed at https://www.howardcountymd.gov/disasterrecoveryvolunteer. Our Centennial Community has been directly impacted by the flooding. Centennial High School is here to provide support and help. If you have been impacted by the flood, please call the school at 410-313-2857 Tuesday morning.
