CELEBRATE CENTENNIAL:

 

  • A BIG Eagles Congratulations to Freya Archuleta, Chris Decarlucci, Jack McGowan, and Aakash Subedi.  After passing a challenging industry-standard exam at the Howard County Applications and Research Laboratory, all four are all now Cisco Certified Entry Networking Technicians (CCENT). This is a prerequisite for further certifications in routing and switching, security, cloud/datacenter, and other information technology domains.

 

  • ICA Howard announces the winner of its 2019 Student Essay Contest

The Indian Cultural Association of Howard County (ICA Howard) is excited to announce the winner of its inaugural High School Student Essay Contest. Congratulations to Sarika Kapadia of Centennial High School, First Prize of $250 and a citation from ICA Howard.

 

  • Congratulations to Carolyn DeSena, grade 10,  who received an A+ for the year and an A for the piano exam from the Maryland State Music Teachers Association Record of Piano Study and Examination for Students.

 

  • Junior Book Award Recipients

This year, 11th grader Judy Zhou was the recipient of The Wellesley College Book Award presented by the Baltimore Wellesley Club. Junior Nadine Meister was the recipient of The Williams College Book Award presented by the Williams College Baltimore Alumni Chapter.  Both awards are given to 11th grade students who demonstrate outstanding academic performance and character and who have made noteworthy contributions to the Centennial student community.  Congratulations Judy and Nadine!

After School Activity Bus

This is just a reminder that next Tuesday, June 11 is the LAST day the after school activity bus will be running for this year.

 

LOST & FOUND

There are a lot of items in our Lost & Found.  If you are missing coats, water bottles, lunch boxes, sweatshirts, etc., please stop by to check out the items before the last day of school.  All items will be donated on Friday, June 21.

 

From the Health Room

If your student has medication in the health room, please make arrangements to stop by any time before the end of the school year to pick up the medication.  Medication remaining at the end of the school year should be picked up by the parent/guardian by 12 noon on the last day of school, June 21st.  Any medication not picked up will be disposed of by the June 21.

 

Live Streaming for Graduation/Photography

HCPSS is excited to be able to continue the tradition of streaming all high school commencement ceremonies live on the HCPSS website at www.hcpss.org. There will be alert boxes on the homepage for each graduation. On-demand viewing also will be available following each ceremony.  You can find CHS at https://www.hcpss.org/commencements/chs/

 

Lastly, there is a sharable photo album created for each graduation. They will be available on our Flickr page no later than Friday, June 7. These do not include the Lifetouch individual photos but instead are candid shots of students before and during the ceremonies, which users may download for free.

Athletic Orientation Program

The Centennial High School Athletic Department will conduct its Fall Athletic Orientation Program for Parents, Students Athletes and Fall Coaching Staff on Tuesday, August 20th  at 6:00PM in the CHS Auditorium.

 

The Fall Coaching Staff will hold their Parent and Student Athlete break-out session immediately following the program, to discuss their expectations and team specific policies and procedures.  For more information, click here.

Fall Sports Sign-Up Night:  Monday, August 12th, 2019: 4:00-5:30 PM in the CHS Cafeteria

Empire Mock Trial Team

The Empire Mock Trial Team cordially invites you to the First Annual Eagle-FEST: a day filled with a Flea Market, Entertainment, Snacks, Trivia, and more! Our event will be Saturday, June 8th from 8am-2pm, and will take place all around our campus. End of Year Staff International Lunch

It's time for the annual End of Year International Lunch for our CHS staff! The Parent Advocacy Groups and the Staff Appreciation Committee of the PTSA will be hosting this event at CHS on Wednesday, June 19, 2018  from 11:30 am -1:00 pm.

We're seeking contributions of entrees to serve between 8-10 people. Please specify your contribution in the comment area so we can ensure variety.  In addition, we need donations of dessert and beverages, as well as volunteers to help with set up, serving, and clean up.

If you belong to one of the Parent Advocacy groups (PCBS, LAC, KAPA or CAAC), please contact your leader to coordinate your donation. All other volunteers, please sign up under the "other" category.  

We will have food warmers set up, but please provide food that is cooked and heated. Please drop off contributions to the CHS cafeteria by 10:45 a.m. or contact Wenge (646-287-0541, wenge99@gmail.com) to make special arrangements.

SUMMER PSAT/SAT/ACT Prep Course coming to CHS this August!

 

Register now for our upcoming SUMMER PSAT, SAT, ACT prep course (5 evenings), ScoreMoreTestPrep, offered at Centennial High School by Dr. Martha Gagnon and Rebecca Mason.  Dr. Martha Gagnon and Ms. Rebecca Mason have been offering ScoreMoreTestPrep at our school for years and feedback and results have been excellent. Anyone planning to take the Summer (August) or Fall tests should consider taking this course.  Better test scores mean more college and scholarship opportunities, so don't miss out on this great way to prep for your upcoming college tests!
