Makeup Exams - AP students who requested a makeup exam will be notified via email directly from College Board on May 28.  If you have not heard by 5/29 please contact Ms. Covington directly.  acovington@hcpss.org  Additionally, students planning on taking an exam in June should review the resources below, including AP Exam Demo and the Explainer Videos.

HCPSS AP Survey - Thank you for your hard work on your at home AP exams. Please complete the following survey to share your at home test taking experience. The feedback will help us document technical problems and communicate concerns to College Board. The form will collect your email address/login in case we need to follow up on specific issues. Please complete the form for each exam you have taken.

Free Score Report - Students should go to https://apstudents.collegeboard.org/sending-scores prior to June 20 to send their AP scores to one college. Scores can be sent to additional colleges for a fee.

Students- please go to the Canvas Student Community for the latest announcement from College Board.  Starting this week (beginning with original tests on May 18th and beyond), you will have the ability to send submissions via email immediately after the exam if you have trouble submitting your exam through the traditional means (cut and paste, file upload, image upload).  This new policy does not apply to exams that occurred last week, but it will apply to the makeup exams for these content areas.  This new policy does not apply to World Language exams. If you are unable to submit and/or email your responses for this week's exams, you will have to apply for the makeup exams.

Please prepare to sit for the May dates. The June window is in place to provide options for technical difficulties or scheduling conflicts.
  • Get your device ready and practice the different ways to submit your exam responses.  Make sure it can run Chrome™, Firefox® , Safari, or Edge to deliver the exam questions. Internet Explorer cannot be used. If you have the Grammarly plug-in on your computer, you'll need to remove it to test. You can be sure your browser works by accessing the AP Exam Demo

Resources Students Need on Test Day

  • You will need your AP ID. You can find this on the first page of your AP Portal.
  • 2020 AP Exam Day Checklist : Students should complete this checklist for each exam they take and keep it next to them while testing.
  • Students taking Music Theory, Computer Science A, Math and/or some Science exams need to have a copy of the related Reference/Guide Sheet printed or handed copied before test day.
  • Many of you are used to writing notes on the exam as you process a question.  Be sure to have some scrap paper and a pen/pencil for sketching out graphs and to outline your answer.
  • Before test day, prepare your doc(s) for easy use and saving on test day by typing your AP ID and initials at the top and then saving it to a clearly labeled folder on your desktop so it will be easy to find.
  • Your e-ticket will come 2 days before each of your exams to your email address AND you will be able to access it in your student account page in the AP Portal.
  • If you have any issue on exam day that prevents you from testing successfully, you’ll be directed to an online AP Makeup Testing Request Form where you can describe what happened and request an e-ticket for a June makeup exam.  You will also be able to access the form at cb.org/requestmakeup

World Language Exams

The AP World Language exams will require the use of a smartphone or tablet to deliver the assessment. College Board will be releasing a new AP World Languages Exam App in the Apple App Store and the Google Play Store during the week of May 11th. This free app is required to take the assessment. Only language exams will require this specialized app.

If you do not have a smartphone/tablet available that can access the Apple App Store or the Google Play Store, please fill out this survey as soon as possible. The College Board will provide additional support depending on device and internet needs.

Exam Format

Each AP exam will generally be a 45-minute, open book/open note, online assessment that will cover the first 75% of the course. Students will be able to access the exam using a variety of devices. The schedule and specifics on each exam are on the College Board’s COVID website. More details about accessing the assessments will be released later in the month.

Accommodations

All testing accommodations previously approved by College Board will be provided.  Students will be able to take online AP Exams with College Board–approved accommodations such as extended time. Please check your College Board account to make sure your SSD number has been entered. You can find more information about how College Board will honor students’ accommodations on this website Accommodations for 2020 AP Exams.

Cancellations & Refunds

With the implementation of the at home AP assessments, students do not need to officially cancel exams. Students can decide the day of the exam to sit or not sit for the exam. Before deciding not to sit, College Board recommends that students work with their teachers and the optional online resources to determine their preparedness.  Any student who does not take the exam will be provided a full refund by HCPSS. In late June, College Board will confirm who has taken exams and then CHS will begin processing refunds for any student who did not participate.
