Teacher Appreciation Week

Teacher Appreciation Week is May 4 - 8, 2020.  We welcome you to leave a surprise message for our excellent Eagle educators. Just click on this link and complete the form. They LOVE your messages -- and will especially love them this year because we miss our students so much! Write as many as you would like - 1 or 21!  You can send a message to any of our staff members – Administrators, teachers, para's, secretaries, coaches, custodians, cafeteria workers. Go nuts! It's a good time to spread some positive vibes. Thank you for helping us celebrate our dedicated staff. Show your #CHSEaglePride!

AP Exams - Update

Advanced Placement (AP) Exam Updates

AP Info Meets --- Ms. Covington will be hosting multiple Meets next week, starting on Tuesday, to address concerns about the new exam format, test day expectations, resources, email contact, cancelations and refunds.  These sessions are NOT mandatory.  Watch for a Canvas alert on Monday with dates and times.

The College Board has released some new AP Exam resources:

  • AP Exam Day Checklist: Your child should complete this checklist (.pdf/513.39 KB) for each AP Exam they'll be taking this year, and keep it next to them on test day.

  • Explainer Videos: New videos are available to give your child quick, easily accessible information about the test day experience and what they need to do to prepare. Additional videos will be posted to this playlist soon.

  • Accommodations details for the exams are also available now.

HCPSS teachers will continue to work with students to share resources and course specific exam information in preparation for testing. Please visit the HCPSS Grades and Testing FAQ for more information.

In addition, AP Coordinators will be sharing the message below with AP Chinese, French, German, Italian, Japanese, and Spanish Language teachers. The teachers will be messaging their students to notify them of the required devices.

The AP language exam will require the use of a smartphone or tablet to deliver the assessment. College Board will be releasing a new AP World Languages Exam App in the Apple App Store and the Google Play Store during the week of May 11th. This free app is required to take the assessment. Only language exams will require this specialized app.

If you do not have a smartphone/tablet available that can access the Apple App Store or the Google Play Store, please fill out this survey as soon as possible:

The College Board will provide additional support depending on device and internet needs.

A video walk-through of the test-taking experience will be available the week of May 4.  Link for more information.

Senior Yard Signs:

It’s been a tough Spring, so let’s celebrate our amazing Seniors with some fun yard signs! . There are two versions of signs available: one for Seniors, personalized with their first name; and the other for any family wishing to support and congratulate the Seniors.  Signs are $15 each and a portion of the sales will be donated to the local food bank.  Please consider supporting CHS Seniors, Boosters and those in need during these tough times.  We appreciate your consideration and support of Eagles families!

Be on the lookout early next week for the link to purchase!

Top 5 Reasons to Buy a Yearbook Ad

5. Yearbook ads last a lifetime. Your child will have this memory to share for many years to come.

4. It’s so easy—you can buy the ad and then take your time to upload the precious photos that tell your story.

3. It’s a great chance to show off your kids and highlight his/her accomplishments over the past 18 years!

2. You’re helping to support the yearbook class, a great educational opportunity for our students to learn about publishing, marketing, and more.

1. It's cathartic. Crafting a message for your graduate can help parents express the varied emotions of this milestone moment.
