CELEBRATE CENTENNIAL:
Got great news about our students, staff, or community? Send it our way and we’ll shout it out!
Centennial Speech & Debate competed at the fifth BCFL Tournament of the regular season on Saturday, January 22nd. Overall, our team had a spectacular turnout with 20 total competitors once again! Wonderful job and congratulations to everyone that competed! Here’s a look at some of our top performers:
In Varsity Public Forum Debate, Lucas Yang won a Silver Individual Speaker award and the teams of Lucas Yang & Matthew Liu and Olivia Ju & Shriya Reddy won the majority of their rounds with a 2-1 record. Additionally, in Varsity Lincoln-Douglas Debate, Peter Chen earned a 2-1 record.
In our speech events, Chloe Ng won an impressive gold medal for Declamation. Furthermore, in Original Oratory, Renee Wu earned a gold medal with 3 first place rankings, and Emily Xing received a silver medal.
As always, a special thank you to all our volunteer judges and parent volunteers who made BCFL #5 possible! We would like to give a special shout out to Mr. Griffin for saving the day by stepping in at the last minute to judge for us.
CHS Speech & Debate is looking forward to competing at the last BCFL Tournament of the regular season on Saturday, February 12th! Moving towards the Metro Championship, our team is ecstatic to end the season off strong. Go Eagles!
