Registration for the 10/1 Walk

Registration is open now! The event will cost $25 per registrant if you will be joining us in-person. The $25 price will guarantee a t-shirt for the walk up until September 9th, 2022. After September 9th, a t-shirt will not be guaranteed as our vendor needs a few weeks to fulfill our order. The link to register is HERE! Please be sure the dropdown for “walk with free t-shirt” is selected. If you will be registering more than one participant for the walk, please make sure you change the quantity to the number of walkers you are paying for. In the comment box on the registration page, please put in the size shirt(s) you would like to request.

Please Note: Day of registrations will be accepted for $15. Please bring a check made payable to “Centennial High School” or exact change in cash, wear RED (walk shirts not available day-of), and arrive by 9:30am.

***This is a HCPSS run payment system. The system does collect a 4% processing fee***

Unable to attend the walk?

There are two different options if you are unable to join us in-person for this event.

Option 1: Register to be a virtual walker! If you are signing up to be a virtual walker the price is $15 per person. Please use this link to register and be sure you’ve selected “VIRTUAL” from the dropdown at the top.  We are asking that if you are virtually walking, please wear RED and send us pictures of yourself or group walking! More details will come in the next month about where to send your pictures on walk day! Unfortunately, due to logistics with our vendor, we will be unable to provide the walk t-shirts to those joining us virtually unless you are able to make alternative arrangements to pick up your shirt or have it mailed to you.

***If you are walking virtually, but still want a shirt, wait to register and email us at colin_moe@hcpss.org or elizabeth_engle@hcpss.org to see if we can work something out with you before registration.***

Option 2: If you are unable to join us in-person or virtually, there is an option to make a donation towards the Emily Scott Award. Please use this link to make a donation of any amount. We appreciate your generosity!

Participation Shirts

Walkers who register by Friday, September 9th are guaranteed their selected shirt size. Walkers who register after that date are not guaranteed a shirt. No shirt size exchanges can be made on walk day. Click here to view the shirt.

Course Map

The course will be 2 miles long in length and will encompass both the Centennial High School and Burleigh Manor Middle School campuses. The start/finish line will be on the track inside the stadium area. The course will be marked with signage on the day of the walk. For those that are unable to walk the course provided, there will be an alternative course inside the stadium area that will be pointed out on race day. The ADA-compatible course inside the stadium will be on a flat track surface for the entirety of the walk. In the event that rain or weather conditions prohibit us from using the course encompassing the different terrains, the track will be used for the walk (in the event of a change of course, this call will be made the morning of the walk). Click to view the course map.

Water Stations

There will be no on-course water stations. Water will be available before and after the race at the start/finish line area. You are welcome to bring your own water bottle/personal hydration to carry with you during the walk as you need.

Shoes

This course uses a combination of natural surface, grass, crushed gravel, and paved pathway. Standard road running/walking shoes are appropriate for this course. Minimalist shoes or open-toed shoes are NOT recommended.

Bathrooms

Porta-potties will be stationed at the start/finish line area only. We will be unable to access the building due to SATs.

Post-Walk Party

Please join us at Manor Hill Brewery (4411 Manor Lane, Ellicott City, MD 21042) for post-walk refreshments. The brewery is an open-field farm located just around the corner from Centennial High School. The venue opens at 12:00pm. Please bring blankets, chairs, pop-up tents, etc. to make it an enjoyable afternoon. The farm has a pizza trolley you can order pizzas from and a plethora of adult libations, as well as activities for kids as well! Bring the whole family! We hope to see you there!
