Eagle News
Third quarter starts on Monday and there will be a whirlwind of activity. Now, as much as before, students need to be motivated to excel in their classes.
Challenging and supporting students is a difficult balance. Students are motivated by multiple goals---to be challenged intellectually, feedback in the form of grades about their progress, and striving for positive self-image. There will be positive and negative experiences, but parents and teachers need to encourage students to problem solve and seek new strategies as they work towards their goals.
From Coaches Eric and Sara Seifter:
On Saturday January 21st, Centennial High School sent eight teams to compete at Hammond High School for their annual Green Eggs and Hammond Tournament. The first five rounds involved 36 teams, and after the dust settled, six of our eight teams qualified for the afternoon playoffs (Centennial A, B, C, E, F, G teams).
In the quarterfinals, we had three teams still standing: Centennial A, B, and C.
After defeating teams like Rockville, Howard, Marriott's Ridge, Wilde Lake, Bullis, Belair, Dulaney, C. Milton Wright, and Mt. Hebron during the day, the last two teams standing for the finals were Centennial A and Centennial B!
