Meet & Greet the NEW Centennial High School Boys Lacrosse Coaching Staff
Centennial High School invites ALL parents/guardians with a student interested in playing boys lacrosse this spring to a Meet & Greet. The meeting will be held on Wednesday, February 12, at 6:00 PM at Centennial in the Media Center. Come out and meet the new members of the coaching staff, including Head Varsity Coach Ken Senisi, Head JV Coach Jim Trexler, and the assistant coaches. You can expect to hear their program’s philosophy, expectations, and plans for the boys lacrosse program.
The meeting is for parents/guardians only. We urge all parent/guardians with a child interested in trying out for boys lacrosse this spring to attend this very important informational meeting. We look forward to seeing you there!
FBLA Regional Conference
Due to the snow day, FBLA's Regional Conference has been rescheduled for this Saturday, February 1st.
Because of the date change for the regional conference, many of the judges that were originally lined up are no longer able to participate. Right now, nine judges are confirmed and a total of sixty are needed.

CHS Music Restaurant Night Fundraiser
February 4th: Support CHS Music with our Special Primary Restaurant Night at "Trattoria Amore", 4725 Dorsey Hall Dr., Ellicott City, MD 21042. ALL DAY LONG bring in this flyer and proceeds support all music departments at CHS. Thank you!
Student Parking
At this time, we have issued all student parking passes for this school year. There are no additional spaces for students for the remainder of the year. If you student would like to put their name on a waiting list, they can stop by the front office.

AP Exams - Registration Update
Late registration will begin on 11/16 and end on 3/13 and cost an additional $40 per exam ($134). NO REGISTRATIONS CAN BE ACCEPTED AFTER March 13th. Congratulations! Centennial High School has earned the College Board's AP Computer Science Female Diversity Award for attaining female student representation in AP Computer Science Principles (CSP) for 2019. Out of 20,000 institutions that offer AP courses, 818 have earned the award. CHS is one of only 639 to be recognized for achieving this important result in AP CSP. This honor acknowledges the outstanding work your school is doing to engage more female students in computer science.
Congratulations! Nadine Meister has been named a top 40 finalist in the 79th Regeneron Science Talent Search—the nation’s oldest and most prestigious science and mathematics competition for high school seniors. Nadine Meister was recently named a top 300 scholar, and now as a finalist will travel to Washington, DC in March to participate in the Finals Week competition. Finalists are each awarded at least $25,000, and the top 10 awards range from $40,000 to $250,000. The top 10 Regeneron Science Talent Search 2020 winners will be announced at a black-tie gala awards ceremony at the National Building Museum on March 10. Nadine Meister joins the ranks of 13 Nobel Prize winners, 21 MacArthur Foundation Fellows and many other distinguished alumni of the Science Talent Search. This honor identifies Nadine Meister as one of the nation’s most promising young scientists or mathematicians.
Chad Hollwedel has been selected as the 2018-2019 Maryland Boys Basketball Coach of the Year. He was selected based upon coaching performance in the 2018-19 school year, lifetime community involvement, school involvement and philosophy of coaching. Congratulations Chad!
Centennial High School has ranked as a TOP 25 Source School for the University of Maryland A. James Clark School of Engineering’s 2019-20 academic year.

February is National Children's Dental Health Month and the Howard Community College Dental Hygiene School will be offering Free Dental Cleanings and Exams on February 17th, 2020.

State Fire Marshal Issues Warning about Social Media “Challenge”: STATEWIDE 1/23/20
State Fire Marshal Brian S. Geraci would like to warn parents of a new viral teen video, which may result in fire incidents and cause serious injury. While the Office of the State Fire Marshal has received no reported incidents within Maryland thus far, the agency has been notified by authorities of two incidents in Massachusetts. Please feel free to share this information and flyer with your community.

Leadership U Class 2020
Is your student looking to build his/her confidence, strengthen their leadership, and problem solving skills, and learn how to network? Does he or she want to make a difference in our Howard County community? Consider joining the Leadership U Class of 2020! Leadership U is an exciting, experiential leadership, teambuilding, and community service opportunity for current high school sophomores. This unique four-month program involves a week-long summer program of hands-on activities, as well as involvement in a team community service project. This program is for students with leadership potential, a desire to learn with others, and for those with an interest in the community. Come to learn more and speak to some of our grads at one of our information sessions being conducted at the Howard County Library System: March 1 at HCLS-Miller Branch from 3-4pm. US Selective Service System
The U.S. Selective Service System and U.S. Department of Education has asked us to remind male students who are or about to turn 18 that they are required to register for selective service. They may register beginning 30 days prior to their 18th birthday and extending 30 days thereafter. Late registration is accepted up to the 26th birthday. Failure to register prior to reaching age 26 may result in unfortunate life consequences, including ineligibility for employment by the federal government, ineligibility to receive federal aid, ineligibility for security clearances, and more. Registration can be completed online at www.sss.gov, or by completing a hard copy of the Selective Service System registration form available at any U.S. Post Office, or available for downloading from the Selective Service System website.
