CELEBRATE CENTENNIAL:

 

  • Centennial sent five teams to the National tournament for History Bowl in Crystal City, Virginia. The JV A team came out 7th in the Nation, which was our exact same position last year. The JV A team was comprised of captain Anthony Duan, PingAn Tang, Carter Matties and Ben Kantsiper. Anthony Duan participated in the International Geography Bee in the Varsity division and won a trophy for 4th place in the Nation. Anthony also participated in the individual JV History Bee and reached the semi-finals and won a plaque for 10th position. The JV B team of Ryan Jiang, Nathan Ho, Utkarsh Tannan, and Jason Chen won a plaque for going undefeated in the afternoon consolation rounds.

 

  • Model UN competed at the Model Arab League Competition held at Georgetown on 4/26-27. The following delegates won Distinguished Delegation award for representing Saudi Arabia;  Kevin John, Ayman Chowdhury, Sanjan Pilla, Sydney Kelley. Anushka Parab and Antoine Gandou won Distinguised Delegation for representing Jordan.

 

Zareen Ahmed, Caio Goolsby, Maggie Ju, and Grace Chan served as chairs for councils at MAL this year.

 

  • The NCWIT Award for Aspirations in Computing builds a talent pool for the growing technical workforce and helps academic and corporate organizations celebrate diversity in computing by honoring young women at the high-school level for their computing-related achievements and interests. Award recipients are selected based on their aptitude and aspirations in technology and computing; leadership ability; academic history; and plans for post-secondary education.

Empire Mock Trial Team

The Empire Mock Trial Team cordially invites you to the First Annual Eagle-FEST: a day filled with a Flea Market, Entertainment, Snacks, Trivia, and more! Our event will be Saturday, June 8th from 8am-2pm, and will take place all around our campus. More information about purchasing a flea market, vendor, marketing, snack, or game booth can be found at our website www.eagle-fest.com. Please email Ms.

17th annual Spring Dance Concert

The 17th annual Spring Dance Concert is right around the corner, and the CHS dancers would love to see you there! All levels of dance classes will perform ballet, modern, jazz, and tap pieces to some of our favorite songs from musicals! Tickets are available in advance for $6 at chs.hcpss.org or at the door for $8 each.  The shows are Thursday, 5/2 and Friday, 5/3 at 7pm...we hope you can make it!

 

CHS AP Pre-administration Session

Students taking an AP exam are required to participate in a pre-administration session.  Students registered for Computer Science Principles, ONLY Chinese or ONLY Studio Art will participate during the school day. Everyone else, including Computer Science A, must attend EITHER Thursday, April 25th from 2:30 – 4pm OR Sunday, April 28th from 10am – 1:30pm.  Students may arrive anytime within these windows and the sessions should take about 30 mins. Both sessions will take place at CHS in the cafeteria.

At pre-administration students will receive a printed confirmation of exams ordered and testing locations as well as their AP number for this year, which they will need in order to access their scores.

Registration for 2019 AP Exams

The registration period for the 2019 AP Exams will begin on 3/4. Students will register for exams using Naviance. Registration is only open to student accounts.  Registration is complete once a signed copy of the survey is submitted with payment. Read more

DID YOUR STUDENT HAVE FUN AT CHS LATE NIGHT?

If so, please consider making a donation if you have not already done so. It was a great event with more than 550 students in attendance, but we are $2000 short of our budgeted donation amount. CHS LATE NIGHT THANKS YOU!

A HUGE THANK YOU to all in the Centennial community who contributed to CHS Late Night 2019, Centennial’s After Prom Party. The evening was a HUGE success with over 550 students enjoying a safe and FUN night after the prom. We couldn’t have done it without the AMAZING 145 dedicated CHS parent volunteers who gave their time and energy to help make the evening special and run smoothly.  Our volunteers are the best! A special thanks to the following CHS Late Night 2019 Chairs who put so much time and effort into the event: Jackie Crispell, Pauline Chan, Amanda Carpenter, Beth Grable, Yujun Mao, Temrah Okonski, and Craig Crispell and our amazing set-up crew who made sure the event was set up in less than 90 minutes.

CHS Booster Board

CHS Booster Board is currently seeking nominations for our 2019/2020 board.  We are seeking individuals who are interested in supporting the athletic teams and club at CHS.  We meet once a month and work to make sure the financial needs of our teams and clubs are met. All Middle and High School students are welcome to attend the HCASC Meeting on 5/8/19 from 7:00pm -8:30pm at the Homewood School, 10914 Clarksville Pike, Ellicott City, MD 21042

-Meet with the Student Member of the Board of Education

-Gain Leadership Skills

-Practice Community Service

-Work with student leaders from across HCPSS

 

We welcome all interested students to attend Howard County Association of Student Councils (HCASC) meetings throughout the year on the second Wednesday evening of each month.

HC Drug Free

Teen Advisory Council Meeting: HC DrugFree’s Teen Advisory Council (TAC) will meet on Monday, May 13 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at The Barn/Teen Center in the Oakland Mills Village Center. TAC meets one Monday evening a month and is open to all Howard County high school students. Community service hours are available for all meetings and events. To register, please visit www.hcdrugfree.org and go to the Teen Advisory Council page. Refreshments provided at meetings, so must RSVP to Admin@hcdrugfree.org or call 443-325-0040.
