EAGLES NEST

November 13, 2020

Centennial Community,

It’s hard to believe we’ve made it through the first quarter of being fully online. It has been amazing to observe our students and staff making the most of the virtual environment. While nothing can replace the connection and access in-person learning provides, I am proud of the way our teachers have worked hard to add power to their pedagogy in order to ramp up the experience for your children.

Next week, as we do each year, we will celebrate American Education Week. We look forward to this opportunity to lift up the value of public schools and the many individuals who work to ensure every student receives a quality education. During this incredibly unusual and often stressful school year, it is even more important that we celebrate the team of people at our schools, including our teachers, administrative and support staff, food and nutrition employees, and so many more.

This is also a good opportunity to thank you for your continued collaboration and partnership with us. During this trying time, you’ve stepped up more than ever to support our children. Although we cannot invite you to sit in an actual classroom, we know many of you have already been watching from the sidelines. If you haven’t caught glimpses of what’s happening in your Eagle’s classes, grab a seat and sit beside them next week to check things out and see our incredible teachers and students in action. Please note: to ensure student safety, outside email addresses will not be allowed into Google Meet sessions. If you are able to sit in on Meets, we ask that you adhere to the following HCPSS Google Meet privacy guidelines:

  • Do not video record, audio record, photograph, live stream, or transmit in any other way any part of a Google Meet class session even if only for personal use. It goes without saying that you may not post on any social media platform.

  • Any confidential or personally identifiable information related to students participating during Google Meets should not be collected, discussed, or shared.

As part of American Education Week, Wednesday, Nov. 18, is Educational Support Personnel Day (ESP). ESP staff includes secretaries, health room staff, paraeducators, custodians, and food service staff. We are encouraging families to email a message of thanks to the Centennial High School ESP staff. You can locate all ESP staff emails on our school website: https://chs.hcpss.org/school-staff.

We look forward to our families getting involved in the spirit of the week. Together, we can move forward in empowering each of our students to achieve and thrive.

Gratefully yours,

Cindy Dillon
