CELEBRATE CENTENNIAL:
Got great news about our students, staff, or community? Send it our way and we’ll shout it out!
Over the past weekend, CHS Speech & Debate competed at the last tournament of the regular season -- BCFL Tournament #6 -- on Saturday, February 12th, and it's safe to say that our team finished the season off strong! Great job and congratulations to everyone that competed! Here's a look into some of our top performers:
Renee Wu won a gold medal in both Declamation and Original Oratory, and Jason Mathew earned a silver medal in Impromptu. Furthermore, Yunling Ying and Daniel Solan both received honorable mentions in Dramatic Performance and Declamation respectively.
Thank you to all our volunteer judges and parent volunteers for helping make the last BCFL competition of the regular season possible for CHS! With many of our students qualifying for the state competition, CHS Speech & Debate is looking forward to competing at the BCFL Metro Championship on March 19th! Go Eagles!
Please join us in congratulating GT Intern/Mentor student, Charles Lu, whose article titled: “A Novel Approachfor Optimizing the Design of Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation Coil for the Human Brain,” has been accepted for publication in the prestigious Journal of Neurological Disorders! Charlie’s research at UMD started when he was asophomore, and now, as a senior, the results will help improve treatment for major depression, obsessive compulsive disorder, and nicotine addiction. It will also be used as an effective diagnostic and research tool for neurological disorders, including epilepsy and stroke. Way to go, Charlie!
