Dan Desmond Receives National AATG/Goethe Institut Certificate of Merit Award
Congratulations to Daniel Desmond, he is one of only seven recipients this year to receive the national AATG/Goethe Institut Certificate of Merit Award. Mr. Desmond was nominated for his outstanding contributions to world language study in Howard County and the German language in Maryland in particular. When the board gathered material for the nomination, the letters of support from former and current students, from teachers he had mentored and colleagues just kept pouring and pouring in, singing Dan's praises. Dan has truly built a remarkable program that -year after year- produces excellent students of German. Additionally, Dan consistently has the highest measurable student achievement in Howard County on both the National German Exam (NGE) and the AP exam and brings the largest student group of any Maryland public high school to our local AATG chapter celebration of students' NGE achievements.
