CHS GRADUATION - Wednesday, May 29 at 11:00 am

Happy Friday!

Today at Centennial, we attempted to administer Unit 1 of the English 10 PARCC exam. Unfortunately, we experienced unusual and significant network issues. I say they were unusual because our students use our Chromebooks on a daily basis without this level of difficulty. Further, other schools administering the exam did not experience issues of this magnitude. In spite of the quick response of the HCPSS Technology Department, we were only successful in getting a little over 50% of the students to complete the tests. Therefore, we suspended testing for the day. The Technology Department continued to diagnose the issue and implemented possible solutions this afternoon.

The current plan is to resume testing on Monday. The Technology Department will be available to provide immediate support should any issue manifest. We will suspend testing and have students attend their regularly scheduled classes if technological issues present. Please know what occured today is not ideal for anyone involved. It’s particularly frustrating when the root of the issue is outside of the control of school staff and students. We will do our very best to manage the administration of these state mandated assessments with as little negative impact on your students day as possible.

For those of you with students attending prom this weekend, looks like this rain is going to clear out in time to permit some great photographs. Students were told that they will be required to check any bags they bring with them to Martin’s in the coat room. They will not be permitted to access their belongings during the dance. Additionally, students are not to bring any food or drink with them to the prom. The HCPSS Dress Code and Code of Student Conduct will be in effect during the prom. Students found to be in violation of policy will be subject to discipline upon return to school - up to and including loss of privilege to participate in school sponsored activities (e.g. Sr. Picnic, Sr. Cruise, Graduation...) and may have their ability to participate in sports or extracurricular activities suspended. Please be aware, students who violate policy will have to be picked up by a parent or legal guardian. Prom ends promptly at 11:00 pm. If you will be serving as the ‘Uber’ for the night, please arrive promptly.

We hope you have a fantastic weekend. Take great pictures and cross your fingers for reliable technology on Monday!

Sincerely,

Cindy Dillon
