2nd Annual Emily Scott Memorial Walk
This Saturday morning, September 30th, Best Buddies will be hosting the 2nd Annual Emily Scott Memorial Walk at 10:00am. The program will begin in the gymnasium with a slideshow, video, and words from her family… with the walk to follow on the track. At the end of the walk, there will be a post-celebration at Manor Hill Farm located just around the corner. Last year we awarded two $2,500 scholarships to CHS graduating seniors and another two $2,500 scholarships to Howard County seniors… totaling $10,000 in scholarships given to continue to honor the life and spirit of Emily!
Even if you did not register, please join us Saturday morning with your friends and/or family! We would love to have you celebrate the life of Emily! Emily was an amazing student, friend, sister, and daughter. She defied all the odds throughout her 25 years here on Earth. Emily participated in Best Buddies at Centennial High School and went on to attend The Athelas Institute in Columbia. Emily loved dancing and singing to her favorite artists, Raffi and Laurie Berkner, visiting the carousel at the Columbia Mall, going on walks around Centennial Park with her family, swinging on various swings around Howard County, and eating chicken nuggets, chocolate chip cookies, and butterscotch pudding. She also made sure everyone stayed on schedule! Emily had an infectious smile, tireless determination, and effusive enthusiasm. She was kind, funny, and happily clapped and stomped up and down the school hallways unlike anyone else! Not a day goes by in Emily’s Academic Life Skills classes where she isn’t remembered by the laminated artwork that covers the board, her All About Me poster, or uncovering some of her work while cleaning out cabinets. Her one-of-a-kind personality will always be remembered and cherished for generations to come. Anyone who knew Emily, is a better person for having her be a part of our lives.
Thanks for your consideration and support of this event!
