  • Maryland Science Olympiad 

We won!  Maryland state championship, going to Nationals!!!  Congratulations to the CHS Science Olympiad team for earning first place at the Maryland State Tournament on April 17,2021!  With this win, the CHS Science Olympiad team has represented the state of Maryland at the National Science Olympiad Tournament an impressive FIVE straight years! On Saturday, the CHS A team placed in 17 events and took first place in seven of them, beating the second-place team by 15 points. 

 

Science Olympiad Team A members are Larry Du, Shreya Vallimanalan,Tomas Germanas, David Pang, John Liu, Yuri Lee, Sumit Nawathe, Eric Zhu, Matthew Won, Teddy Jorgensen, Jason Mathew, Emily Xing, Anurag Sodhi, Arif Vempalle, and Ryan Zou

Though not competing in the finals, the CHS B team achieved success this year by placing 7th at the Mt. Hebron Regional Tournament last month. Additionally, and throughout the season, many B team members aided A team members in their practices and were crucial to the club's overall success. Over the past few months, members collectively put in hundreds of hours of hard work and dedication preparing for and competing in invitationals across the country, including Harvard/Brown, UPenn, Duke, Princeton, and Fairfax High School. Congratulations CHS Science Olympiad and good luck at next month's National Tournament at Arizona State University!
